Become a Parish Councillor

Post by Holger Laux » Thu 11 Jan, 2018 9:21 pm

So you want to be a Parish Councillor? There's a vacancy!

If you live in Dundry and are 18 or over, you are eligible to join Dundry Parish Council. There are 10 Councillors, and a position has become available because a Councillor has stepped down. The attached notice will be advertised in the parish magazine, on the village noticeboards and the website, and an election will be held if more than one person comes forward.  In recent times this has not happened.

Every four years there is an election for the whole Parish Council. The next election will be in Spring 2019. Being a Councillor means representing your community at the level of government closest to the people, together with like-minded unpaid people. It can be hard work and you need a thick skin, but it is also rewarding. You need to be available to attend meetings on the second Monday of each month apart from August.
