January was a frenzy of fondant icing as our speaker Sue Duggan showed us how to decorate cup cakes using silicone moulds and coloured icing and then let us loose with the same to have a go. The concentration and hush from the ladies was amazing and we all went home with a box of edible goody 'masterpieces' !
Now, are you a minimalist or a maximumist, a clearer or a hoarder? Either way, 10th March in our village hall is your event - Grand WI Jumble Sale. You can clear out the clutter or acquire more at very bargain prices. Hall will be open at 2pm Friday 9th and 9am Saturday 10th for donations, actual event at 11 am. I can hear the family groaning already as I collect more than I send. I do love the excitement of a find and a bargain - although am still trying to find a use for the sequined mini skirt acquired there in 2007!
Also in March is Avon Federation's EGM to hear what is happening countywide and meet other WIs. Main speaker will be Miranda Krestovnikoff plus usual stalls and lunching or shopping in Weston town. On 30th we are off to 42nd Street staged by BLOC (Bristol Light Operatic Company) - always a good production. Last but not least, our monthly meeting is on 21 st March with a cooking demonstration from Ruki Clark with 'Pakara's Little Taster Snacks' as our speaker. Sounds very tasty and will be at usual time of 7.30pm in village hall - bit of business, then the talk and yummy refreshments and a chat to finish the evening. Do come.
