May 2013

The merry month of May is upon is and ‘maybe’ the weather is warming up. When this goes to print hubby and I will have partaken of an Avon Federation WI organised holiday to the castles and country houses of Northumbria. Hope the snow will be gone when we get there. Yes, we do allow the lads to come to some WI events rather than leaving them ‘home alone’!

Our March look at ‘Wildlife Art’ with Ruth Pizzichemi was inspiring. A very talented lady who holidays in Africa every year to pursue her love of the wildlife there. The May meeting on 15th sees us debating WI resolutions. The subject this year is ‘The Decline of Our Town Centres and High Streets’. This is usually followed by an activity organised by the committee, which is usually good fun, be it quiz, beetle drive or creativity. Come along and have your say. Some of us are also off to the group meeting at Long Ashton this month, with Anne Widecombe as speaker and a competition of bookmarks made from any medium.

Finally a bit more of ‘Mrs Murphy’s Law’:

‘Women do not nag, they ask 50 times because they get no response’!

‘Men, when they die, hope to discover the riddle of the Universe. Women hope to find where odd socks go’!
